Bio

Daytona Lights are a Groove-Pop 5 piece from London; who deliver thoughtful and intelligent, upbeat pop. Drawing passing nods to Aztec Camera, Dexys Midnight Runners & The Beach Boys, whilst bringing their unique modern twist to the 80’s melody, they craft spacious grooves and lyrics that last.

The boys have garnered airplay & live sessions on Radio 1, Radio 2, XFM and BBC6 Music. Also featured in Blackberry and Olympus advertising campaigns, this being followed by a promotional stint on Hollyoaks as the ‘house band’.

The ‘Oh So English’ lads worked closely with legendary producer, Steve Levine (Beach Boys, The Clash, Culture Club), on their debut record “This Modern Landscape”, which has so far received support from the likes of Stephen Fry, John Robb and Boy George and has had the honour of being awarded “Album of the Year” at the International Independent Charts Download Awards 2012.

This past year has seen the boys playing all over the country in all sorts of venues including the Houses of Parliament, Nick Mason’s (Pink Floyd) Ferrari hangar, Bestival and Hard Rock Calling, not to mention the debaucherous University Freshers tour.

Currently the band are holed up in their studio, dubbed “The Grotto”,  in South London working on brand new material for 2013… keep posted.

“They are true originals in a massively over subscribed field of guitar bands and that’s a fine and rare thing.” – John Robb (Louder than War)

“…there’s a sense of space and musicality that references early 80’s guitar bands like Aztec Camera and in particular the vocal parts are so well executed its almost too good, Beach Boys standard (I kid you not).” – Clash Music (review of Houses of Parliament show)
